    PFLITSCH ensures mobility – in the railway industry
    Weather resistant, vibration resistant and fire safe in accordance with EN 45545-2


    Rail vehicle technology demands the best from all its systems as they are permanently exposed to wind and weather, dust, stone impacts and strong vibrations. Locomotives and wagons of course, but also the technical equipment at stations, on the track and in tunnels, have to function reliably over a long service life. For many years now, PFLITSCH has been setting the standards in this segment and supplies the railway industry among others with intelligent cable gland solutions and trunking.

    The proven UNI Dicht® system excels, for example, through its high vibration resistance and strain relief, which are above the values generally achieved in the industry. However, customers also value its high temperature resistance. The silicone material for example can be used in temperatures from -55 °C to +180 °C. When weight savings are important and space is tight, UNI Dicht Multiple cable glands are called for.

    The new fire protection standard EN 45545-2 has been in force since 2013 and supersedes European national standards such as NF F 16-101 and -102, BS 6853 and DIN 5510-2. Cable gland manufacturer PFLITSCH is already supplying approved products that fulfil the requirements of the new standard EN 45545-2. The sealing inserts used in  UNI Dicht® cable glands meet the highest requirement, hazard level HL3, of the new EU standard for unrestricted use in trains – including sleeping cars – whether on open lengths of track, in tunnels or in stations. In accordance with the requirements, the results show oxygen index >32 %, smoke density Ds max. 300 and toxicity CIT max. 1.5.     For safe placement of cables in a railway environment, some of the products PFLITSCH offers include its proven trunking systems such as the closed PIK-Trunking where fire safety is paramount, or the open wire tray, where large cable volumes have to be carried over long routes and inspected at any time.
